How to use text to handwriting in NotePetal
Paste your notes
Bring plain text or Markdown. Headings, lists and emphasis carry over into the notebook.
Choose your handwriting
Pick Kalam, Patrick Hand or Caveat, then adjust ink, text size, spacing and paper.
Save and export
Create a free account to save your notebook and export a searchable PDF in A4 or US Letter.
Choose a handwriting font you can read
Kalam gives body text a steady handwritten appearance. Patrick Hand is useful for upright lettering, while Caveat adds a looser script. You can use one font throughout or combine handwritten headings with printed body text.
These pages use handwriting fonts. They do not imitate a pen stroke by stroke or automatically learn your handwriting from a photo. If you already have a font made from your handwriting, you can upload it in the saved notebook studio.
Keep long notes aligned on the page
Choose ruled paper for prose, grid paper for worked examples, dotted paper for a lighter guide, or plain paper for clean printouts. Text can align to the notebook rules, and you can adjust margins and line spacing before exporting.
Use headings to split a long chapter into sections. Lists, tables, code and equations have their own formatting, so they stay readable alongside the handwritten text. Review the page preview for wide tables or unusually long formulas.
Export handwriting-style notes as a searchable PDF
After saving to an account, export the notebook in A4 or US Letter. The PDF keeps text searchable rather than flattening every page into a screenshot. You can select pages, hide the ruling or use grayscale to save color ink.
The free plan includes PDF export with a small NotePetal footer. Previewing pasted text is free without an account; saved notebooks and AI or OCR processing have the allowances shown on the plans page.
Frequently asked questions
Can I convert text to handwriting for free?
Yes. Preview your pasted text without an account. A free account lets you save notebooks and export PDFs, within the free plan’s notebook and storage limits.
Does the converter change my wording?
The text preview keeps your wording and interprets Markdown formatting. In the saved studio, choose Keep my wording if you want layout changes without AI rewriting.
Can I use my own handwriting?
You can upload an existing handwriting font in WOFF2, WOFF, TTF or OTF format in the saved studio. NotePetal does not create a font from handwriting photos.
Can I download an image instead of a PDF?
The notebook workflow exports a searchable PDF. It is designed for printable notes rather than individual PNG or JPEG downloads.
