Copyright Policy

Your rights and responsibilities

You retain your rights in material you create. You must have permission to upload, process, export, or share other material, including lecture slides, textbook excerpts, figures, and handwriting fonts. NotePetal does not grant rights to material simply because it can import or transform it. This policy works with the Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy.

Report copyright infringement

Email [email protected] with the subject "Copyright notice" and include:

• Your name, email address, and organization if relevant.
• A description of the copyrighted work and enough information to locate the reported material, such as a notebook share URL or other reference.
• A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent, or the law.
• A statement that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.
• Your physical or electronic signature.

Missing information may delay review.

How we respond

We may request more information, disable a share link or access to reported material, preserve relevant records, or restrict an account when a report appears valid. Where needed to review the claim or allow a response, we may share the notice and contact details with the user responsible for the material. We cannot remove copies already downloaded by others.

Respond to a report

If your material was restricted by mistake, email support with the subject "Copyright response." Identify the material, explain why you believe the restriction is mistaken, and provide your name, contact details, and physical or electronic signature. We will review the response subject to applicable law.

Repeat infringement and AI output

We may suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly infringe copyright or violate others' rights. AI output can resemble existing material or another person's output. Review it before sharing or publishing, preserve required attribution, and do not use NotePetal to misrepresent someone else's work as your own.
