Help

A little help getting started.

From your material to a printable notebook in three steps: add it, style it, and export it.

  1. 1Add your materialPaste text or upload a file.
  2. 2Make it yoursPick a layout, font, and colors.
  3. 3Export a PDFSearchable and ready to print.

Bring your material

Paste text or upload a text, Markdown, code, PDF, DOCX, PNG, or JPEG file. Files can be up to 20 MB. Select up to 50 PDF pages and review up to 100,000 extracted characters. Combine up to 10 files and pastes in one notebook. Scanned pages and photos can use hosted OCR after you agree to processing.

Automatic, with review when needed

Clean text is arranged automatically. You can choose a review step in More options. “Keep my wording” preserves your extracted wording. Markdown markers become headings and lists. “Create study notes” reorganizes it using AI and links passages to their source.

Always check the original. OCR and extraction warnings ask you to review the text first, especially equations, names, and reading order.

Write in Markdown

Paste Markdown or upload a .md file and NotePetal keeps the formatting on your pages: bold and highlighted words, numbered lists, checklists, quotes, callouts, tables, code and equations. The same shortcuts work while you type in the text editor, and pasted Markdown is converted automatically.

Make it yours

Choose flow, Cornell, two-column, or boxed layouts. Change the paper, font, text size, ink, and accent. Write between the lines aligns text to the notebook rules. Use Arrange to reorder sections with arrows or drag them; choose Edit text only when you need to fix wording.

Save and export

Wait for “Saved” before closing your browser. The page studio shows the same layout used for your PDF. Export PDF creates a searchable document. If another tab changes your notebook, preserve your draft as a copy or load the latest version.

Tip: press ⌘K (or Ctrl K) in your workspace to jump to any notebook.

Limits

These limits keep processing fast and exports reliable. Supported images and embedded Word figures are kept as captioned figures; complex embedded objects may need to be added separately.
