How to use markdown to pdf in NotePetal

  1. Paste Markdown

Use # headings, **bold**, lists, tables and fenced code. You can also upload a .md file in the workspace.

  2. Choose the printed page

Start with Clean print, or switch to handwriting and notebook ruling. Check wide blocks in the preview.

  3. Export the notebook

Save to a free account, then export the pages as a searchable A4 or US Letter PDF.

Keep the structure of your Markdown notes

Markdown headings become notebook headings, and bulleted, numbered and nested lists keep their structure. Bold, italics, highlights, inline code and quotes help distinguish important details. Checklists, callouts and fenced code blocks are supported too.

Simple rectangular tables can have up to 12 columns. Use $$ blocks for equations. A --- separator or a \newpage marker creates a page break. The help page includes the supported syntax and examples you can copy.

Format for paper rather than a long scrolling document

A document that reads well in an editor can still need adjustments on paper. Choose a font size that makes code readable and use margins that leave room for binding. Two-column layouts suit short facts; flow pages often work better for long code blocks or tables.

Review wide equations and tables before export. Break a large table into smaller topic tables when necessary, and shorten code lines that extend beyond the page. The notebook studio previews the same layout used by the PDF exporter.

Keep wording or build a study notebook

The guest preview formats your text without AI rewriting. In the workspace, Keep my wording preserves the imported wording while arranging it. You can edit the notebook later with the same Markdown shortcuts and a rich text editor.

If the Markdown is course material, you can also choose Cornell pages, add recall questions or suggest flashcards from the notes. PDF exports retain searchable text. Free exports include a small NotePetal footer; the Pro plan removes it.
